Granger Waste Services
Taking out the trash has been a household staple for generations, whether it was on your childhood chore list, or it's still part of your weekly routine. For the three Granger brothers, keeping our communities clean became their entire life’s work. In 1966, to find a more efficient way to deal with their waste, they bought a used garbage truck and started hauling it themselves. Soon, they began providing trash service for other construction companies and eventually, for other commercial and residential customers. Granger bought its first landfill in 1974, and later became the first landfill owners in Michigan to use composite liners, setting the standards of responsible land management that Granger Waste Services is still known for today.
Granger Waste Services has remained a Michigan-based, family-owned business for 60 years that continues to embolden the communities it serves to live by the Golden Rule, while offering:
Residential waste and recycling collection
Commercial waste and recycling collection
Large temporary containers
Recycling and disposal services
“Green energy” isn’t just a slogan at Granger; it’s embedded in the foundation of everything they do. In 1985, Granger became Michigan’s first company to utilize landfills as a renewable energy resource. The landfill gas generated from Granger landfills is put to good use by EDL, a renewable energy company. Annually, the company extracts 22,000 tons of waste gas to convert it into renewable natural gas.
Granger supports our community through providing a necessary public service and giving back at the local level, from community Touch-a-Truck events, to meet-and-greets with Captain Curby, to educational presentations for school groups.
“As a municipal service provider for the City of Mt. Pleasant and Central Michigan University, we are deeply invested in the community and proud to support local events and causes through the Granger Corporate Giving Program,” said Andrea Davis, communications manager at Granger Waste Services.
