Four Suns Farm

Local farms have been a cornerstone of Isabella County for generations, providing the community access to local plants, produce, and livestock. One such farm, The VanderSys Tree Farm of Weidman, is where Stephanie Olver grew up. Owned by her parents, VanderSys was Stephanie’s first introduction into family-owned farming and the beautiful power it holds to create lasting memories. Her passion for the restorative nature of the outdoors, coupled with her and her husband Tom’s love of family, is what led them to their newest adventure: Four Suns Farm. 

In March 2023, Stephanie and Tom opened Four Suns Farm in honor of their four sons – Maximus, Finn, Liam, and Ezra. They wanted to create a space where community members could come to spend quality time with one another while enjoying the beautiful landscape of Central Michigan.

For Tom and Stephanie, memories and connections are everything. The land Four Suns Farm sits on was once owned by Stephanie’s parents, who grew Christmas trees on the property—many of which remain today. Her parents dreamed of turning the property into a special place for the community, and today, Stephanie and Tom are continuing that dream by creating a place where people can slow down, connect, make memories, and enjoy the beauty of the farm. 

“There’s something special about growing up on a family farm. You learn to appreciate the land, the hard work, and the importance of passing something meaningful on to the next generation,” said Stephanie,  

“We’re so grateful to be able to build on what my parents started and keep this land connected to family, farming, and community.”  

The farm is home to more than 1,000 lavender plants, which are harvested and carefully dried to create an array of natural products made with simple ingredients. These Michigan-made products are available in the Farm Boutique and include bug sprays, pet shampoos, candles, soaps, and more!  The farm also offers workshops, yoga sessions, bonfire rentals and photography sessions, providing community members with unique opportunities to connect with nature and spend quality time with one another. 

In 2026, Four Suns Farm celebrated its inaugural Lavender Festival that welcomed over 400 individuals to the farm to interact with vendors, listen to live music, and participate in vinyasa yoga and lavender-based workshops. This year, the farm held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 12, 2026. 

Four Suns Farm has also launched the Four Suns Farm Foundation in 2026. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to serving its mission of sustaining small farming, expanding agricultural education, and growing the Lavender Kids Club programming. Combining Stephanie’s elementary education background and the offerings of the farm, the Lavender Kids Club is a program offered once a week for children ages four to eleven. Each 90-minute session includes hands-on experiences, gentle yoga and creative nature-based art, providing each participant with an engaging connection to the natural world around them.  

“We want Lavender Kids Club to give children the opportunity to slow down, get their hands dirty, explore, and really notice the world around them. There is so much beauty in nature, and when children have the chance to experience it firsthand, they begin to appreciate it, care for it, and feel connected to it. Those are the kinds of memories and connections we hope they carry with them,” remarked Tom Olver. 

In three short years, Stephanie, Tom and their boys have seen tremendous growth in their new adventure – but they aren’t slowing down anytime soon. On September 15, 2026, they are hosting a Business After Hours event in partnership with the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce, and on October 4, 2026, the farm will have its first Fall Fest with live music, food, workshops, kids' activities and hayrides.
