ALMA, Mich. – MyMichigan Medical Center Alma employees, under the auspices of the MyMichigan Health Foundation, wrapped up another successful Swine Dining Pig Raffle, benefiting the Medical Center’s Breast Health Fund.

For $10 per ticket, participants had the opportunity to win half of a processed pig, with proceeds benefiting the Breast Health Fund. The pig was purchased through the Gratiot County Fair for Youth, extending the impact of the fundraiser by supporting local youth and agriculture.

Renee Gluch and Kathi Thompson were selected as this year’s winners during the August drawing and each receiving half of the processed pig.

MyMichigan Medical Center Alma employees Trisha Grover and Tammy Story once again spearheaded the raffle, helping sell 925 tickets and rallying support from employees, friends, families and members of the community.

“The support we received this year was incredible,” said Grover. “It is rewarding to see so many people participate in something that benefits our local youth while also helping many breast health patients right here in our community.”

“Every ticket makes a difference,” added Story. “It is a fun way for people to get involved, but behind the raffle is an important purpose – helping ensure resources are available for patients who need breast health services.”

The Breast Health Fund was established to support those seeking breast health services at MyMichigan Medical Center Alma. Donations support prevention, screening, diagnostic testing, educational services, equipment and patient care needs. For eligible individuals, the fund may also provide financial assistance for screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasounds, breast MRIs, breast biopsies and interpretation fees. Additional support may include post-breast cancer surgery materials, breast cancer genetic counseling and certain transportation needs.

“Fundraisers like this show how philanthropy can directly impact the lives of patients in our communities,” said Becky Church, director, MyMichigan Health Foundation. “We are grateful to Trisha and Tammy for the energy they put into this effort and to everyone who purchased and sold tickets. Each ticket helps provide resources that can make breast health services more accessible to those who need them and is a wonderful example of our Purpose – Creating Healthy Communities – Together.”
