MyMichigan Medical Centers to Host Wave of Light Events Oct. 15
ALMA, MIDLAND, WEST BRANCH and SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – MyMichigan Medical Centers in Alma, Midland, West Branch and Sault Ste. Marie will host the International Wave of Light at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, an annual event that supports grieving parents and honors the babies they have lost.
Observed each year on Oct. 15 as part of International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, the Wave of Light brings families and communities around the world together in remembrance. At 7 p.m. local time, participants light candles or luminaries to create a continuous “wave of light” around the globe. The ceremony honors families who have experienced miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or stillbirth, as well as those who have lost infants to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other causes.
This year’s recognition events will take place at 7 p.m. at the following locations: MyMichigan Medical Center Alma, 300 E. Warwick Drive in Alma; MyMichigan Medical Center Midland, 4000 Wellness Drive in Midland; MyMichigan Medical Center West Branch, 2630 S. M-30 in West Branch (a lighted walk will take place at the pavilion), and MyMichigan Medical Center Sault, 500 Osborn Boulevard in Sault Ste. Marie.
