Members First Credit Union Opens Joy in Teaching Grants for Michigan Educators
MICHIGAN – Members First Credit Union (M1) is investing in the educators who inspire the next generation. Through its Joy in Teaching Grants program, M1 will award 40 grants of $500 to Michigan teachers, giving them the flexibility to purchase classroom necessities or bring creative ideas to life for their students.
The 2026 application period runs September 15 through October 15, 2026, and is open to all Michigan Pre-K through 12th grade educators. Grant recipients will be announced by November 30, 2026. Applications must be submitted online. Members First Credit Union employees, directors, volunteers, and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
"Teachers inspire curiosity, build confidence, and make a lasting impact every day," said Emily Holty, Grant Funding Manager at Members First Credit Union. "The Joy in Teaching Grants are one way we can support their passion by helping bring creative ideas to life for local students. We can't wait to see what teachers have in store for our youth this year!"
The program's impact can already be seen across Michigan schools. Since its launch, Members First Credit Union has awarded $40,000 in Joy in Teaching Grants to Michigan educators. Previous grant recipients have used funding to purchase classroom supplies, create hands-on STEM experiences, expand literacy initiatives, introduce flexible seating, provide mental wellness resources, and even improve classroom comfort through practical upgrades such as air conditioning. Each project reflects the creativity, and dedication educators bring to their students every day. To learn more or apply, visit mfcu.net/teachergrants.
