Members First Credit Union Invests $75,000 in Mid Michigan College Nursing Lab
Members First Credit Union and Mid Michigan College are proud to announce a $75,000 gift to support Health Sciences education through the College’s Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow campaign.
In recognition of this generous investment, the Nursing Lab on Mid’s Harrison Campus will be named in honor of Members First Credit Union. The lab provides a modern, fully equipped environment for hands-on clinical training, faculty instruction, and program development—ensuring nursing students gain the real-world experience needed to enter Michigan’s high-demand healthcare workforce with confidence.
Mid Michigan College’s nursing program has been preparing highly skilled, patient-centered nurses since 1969. Over the past five decades, the program has graduated more than 3,500 nurses who now serve hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities throughout the region. Enrollment has grown by more than 15% in the past three years alone, reflecting both strong student interest and the growing demand for healthcare professionals.
The program also plays a critical role in strengthening the local workforce. More than 80% of Mid’s nursing graduates remain in the region after completing the program, helping address staffing needs across local healthcare systems.
“At Members First Credit Union, our vision is to create thriving communities, and this investment is a reflection of that commitment,” said Carrie Iafrate, Chief Executive Officer of Members First Credit Union. “With a Members First branch in Harrison, we’re proud to invest locally—naming the new Nursing Lab at Mid Michigan College and supporting students who will go on to care for the very communities we serve.”
“Support like this demonstrates the power of partnership,” said Alexa Carey, Executive Director of the Mid Michigan College Foundation. “Members First Credit Union is helping our nursing students thrive while advancing the goals of our Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow campaign.”
The Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow campaign supports strategic investments across Mid Michigan College, including Health Sciences programs, skilled trades education, a new Event Center, and campus beautification initiatives. Together, these efforts help create modern learning environments that prepare students for meaningful careers while strengthening the communities Mid serves.
