Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau Awards $100,000 Destination Development Grant to Mid Michigan College for New Morey Event Center
The Mid Michigan College Foundation is proud to announce a $100,000 Destination Development grant from the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (MPACVB) in support of the College’s new Morey Event Center. The grant will distribute $20,000 per year over five years and supports naming rights for the Meet Mt. Pleasant Multipurpose Room within the facility on the Mt. Pleasant Campus.
The project is part of Mid Michigan College’s Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow campaign, which is advancing transformational investments across the College, including the new Event Center, expanded skilled trades and health sciences labs, and campus beautification initiatives. The Morey Event Center is designed to serve as a place where people can come together through student activity, athletics, and community engagement.
The MPACVB’s Destination Development program strategically invests in projects that strengthen tourism, enhance community assets, and support long-term economic growth throughout Isabella County. Since 2019, the organization has invested more than $424,000 in local sports and tourism-related improvements.

“Mid Michigan College is deeply grateful to the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau for this meaningful five-year investment in the Morey Event Center,” said Alexa Carey, Executive Director of the Mid Michigan College Foundation. “This $100,000 commitment not only strengthens our long-standing partnership but also reinforces the role Mid plays in driving community development, student opportunity, and regional growth. The Multipurpose Turf Room will be a dynamic space that serves both students and the broader community for years to come.”
“Destination Development investments are designed to strengthen community assets while growing the visitor economy across Isabella County,” said Chris Rowley, President and CEO of the Mt. Pleasant Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. “The Morey Event Center is exactly the type of project that aligns with that mission, expanding sports tourism opportunities, enhancing local infrastructure, and creating long-term economic impact. We are proud to partner with Mid Michigan College on this five-year investment.”
