More Students Are Going to College Tuition-Free at Mid
More students than ever are attending Mid Michigan College with little to no tuition costs thanks to options like the Community College Guarantee and Michigan Reconnect. Whether you're a recent high school graduate or an adult ready for a career change, these affordable opportunities are making a college education more attainable than ever.
Today, more than 800 Mid students are attending college through Michigan Reconnect, while more than 480 recent high school graduates are using the Community College Guarantee to begin their college education with little to no tuition costs.
Recent High School Graduate?
The Community College Guarantee provides eligible recent high school graduates with tuition-free access to Mid for in-district students and significant financial assistance for students living outside the district. Eligible students may also receive up to $1,000 to help cover additional educational expenses such as textbooks, transportation, or supplies. Students have up to 15 months after graduating from high school to enroll and take advantage of this scholarship.

Returning to College or Attending as an Adult?
Michigan Reconnect helps Michigan residents age 21 and older earn a college degree or credential by covering in-district tuition after other financial aid has been applied. The scholarship has made it possible for hundreds of adult learners at Mid to return to college, gain new skills, advance their careers, or prepare for entirely new professions.
Current students may also be eligible for Michigan Reconnect if they have not received the scholarship in the past.
Recent legislation expanded Michigan Reconnect eligibility to younger adult learners aged 21 and older. The State of Michigan is actively updating processes and providing guidance as this change takes effect and the benefit becomes available for the Fall 2026 semester.

More Than One Way to Save
Both CCG and Reconnect work alongside federal and state financial aid, making college more affordable for students across a wide range of income levels. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov to maximize available assistance, and Reconnect participants must also complete the State of Michigan application at michigan.gov/reconnect.
In addition to state and federal financial aid, many students also qualify for scholarships through the Mid Michigan College Foundation. A single online application at midmich.edu/scholarships allows students to be considered for all available Mid scholarships.
Because financial aid options and eligibility requirements continue to evolve, prospective students are encouraged to connect with Mid's Admissions and Financial Aid teams to learn about the opportunities currently available and upcoming changes that may benefit them.
